Laoag City—The city government here recognized this year’s model families in an awarding held November 4 at the Laoag City Auditorium.

The model families are the Maximo family of Brgy. 57 (Pila) for the non-professional category; and the Felix family of Brgy. 51-B (Nangalisan West) under the professional category.

The Maximo family is led by Eusebio T. Maximo; while the Felix family is led Fabian L. Felix.

City population commission officer Janet Retamal said the two families received P5,000 cash, trophy and plaque each.

Named as runners up for the non-professional category are the families of Rachel Salvador od Brgy. 34-A (Gabu Norte); and Cesar N. Julian of Brgy. 19 (Sta. Marcela).

For the professional category, runners up are the families of Oscar B. Villanueva of Brgy. 32-B (La Paz); and P/Sr. Insp. Edgar P. Diego (ret) of Brgy. 33-B (La Paz).

The runners up received P4,000 and P3,000 cash plus trophies and plaques. Nominators for the winning families also received P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

The sixteen finalists are the families of: Juanito R. Alipio, Arsenio Asuncion, Dionisio Bugaoisan, Adrian Corpuz (ret.), Emiliano C. Cudal, Nestor C. Dela Cruz, Reymunco C. Delos Santos, Nardito Gaoiran, Isabelo M. Mateo, Dante R. Matias, Miguel R. Raqueño, Mario C. Reyes, SPO2 Cresencio F. Riveral (ret), and Jerry C. Santos.

The families of Charito M. Tarampi and Abraham C. Vallesteros also received certifications from the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Laoag Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas served as guest of honor and speaker during the awarding.

She congratulated the families for successfully rearing their children into successful people in their own fields.

Criteria for the Model Family 2016 include self-reliance, adequacy in providing basic needs, health and sanitation, and values and spirituality.

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
