DAR launches Farm Business School

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently launched a Farm Business School (FBS) at Brgy. Macupit in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

The program aims to enhance the farming and entrepreneurial abilities of the beneficiaries.

Initially, there are 30 vegetable farmers who will undergo 30 training sessions and group-based experiential learning activities.

The FBS is a collaboration of DAR, Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and the local government unit of Bacarra.

Engr. Vic M. Ines, OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, said the business school is designed to improve the marketing strategies of the farmers.

“We will also help them access new markets for their products,” said Ines.

Local government officials of Bacarra also promised to assist the farmer-beneficiaries in marketing their products to the different business establishments in the municipality.

RADYO AGRARYO: Aiming to increase public awareness of its programs and projects, the provincial office of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Ilocos Norte launched on May 13 its weekly radio program titled “Radyo Agraryo.”

“Radyo Agraryo” is aired every Friday at 4:00PM-4:30PM over DWFB Radyo ng Bayan.

In its maiden airing, Engr. Vic Ines, OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, discussed the three major services of DAR, specifically land distribution, support services for the agrarian reform beneficiaries and the delivery of agrarian justice.

“This is an avenue for us to further explain the services that the people could avail from DAR,” Engr. Ines said.

In the same airing, Chief Administrative Officer Rudy Acacio, informed the listeners of the human resources development projects they have realized for the employees of DAR-Ilocos Norte.

“We are regularly updating the knowledge of our employees on civil service rules and regulations,” stressed Acacio.

“Radyo Agraryo” also features guests from the different divisions of DAR.

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
