Ilocos Norte board to update provincial codes, ordinances

LAOAG CITY—The Ilocos Norte board is set to upgrade its antiquated provincial codes and ordinances to ensure these are updated and relevant to today’s ever changing environment.

Ilocos Norte Vice Governor and Sangguniang Panlungsod presiding officer Eugenio Angelo M. Barba, who is running unopposed this election period for his third term, vowed to implement codification of ordinances and most importantly to update existing provincial legislations to conform to the needs of times.

To date, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has already started working on its environment code while the health and sanitation code, water code and tourism code among others had already been referred to their respective committees for further review and upgrading.

“We have passed a lot of codes and some were approved way back in 1995. It’s been 16 years so halos obsolete na ang iba du’n,” Mr. Barba said citing the need to review all of these and make the necessary amendments.

As the vice governor secures his third and final term of office, he said a number of legislations have to be in place as the province steps up preparation for its grand bicentennial celebration in 2018.

“Together with the governor, we are eyeing to make Ilocos Norte the best little province by 2020,” Mr. Barba said as he underscored the need to pass ordinances and resolutions in support of the plans and programs of the Ilocos Norte government.

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
