DOST 1, DMMMSU tie up in implementing the PST

The Department and Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST 1) and the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) have joined forces to support the implementation of Republic Act 10535 also known as the Philippine Standard Time (PST) Act of 2013.

The joint support culminated in the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) and a switch-on ceremony of the PST clock conducted on January 22, 2015 at DMMMSU-Mid La Union Campus in San Fernando City, La Union.

The MOA signing was led by DOST 1 Regional Director Dr. Armando Q. Ganal and DMMMSU President Atty. Benjamin P. Sapitula. Dr. Paulito C. Nisperos, DMMMSU-MLUC Chancellor and Dr. Paulina P. Nebrida, DOST 1 OIC Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations witnessed the MOA signing. The group proceeded then to the front gate of DMMMSU-MLUC for the switch-on ceremony of the PST clock.

RA 10535, approved by President Benigno S. Aquino III on May 15, 2013, is an “act to set the Philippine Standard Time (PST) in all official sources throughout the country, to provide funds for the installation, operation and maintenance of synchronized time devices to be displayed in key public places.”

According to Chancellor Nisperos, he will issue a memorandum to sync all time devices with the PST clock in all the colleges at DMMMSU-MLU campus.

On the other hand, DOST 1 will install same device in all Provincial Science and Technology Centers in the region. (DOST)
