INEC sequential AGMAs meet NEA quota

Dingras, Ilocos Norte—Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) officials said the four sequential annual general membership assemblies (AGMAs) were successful.

INEC board President Reynaldo M. Lazo said the cooperative has even exceeded the attendee quota put forth by the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

INEC records show that the Bangui AGMA had 2,400 attendees, while 3,600 attended the Bacarra assembly and 4,922 showed up for the Batac City assembly. The total attendees for the sequential assemblies is 10,922.

A final assembly is scheduled for Dingras on Dec. 6.

With a total member-consumers of at least 146,000, INEC needs to reach at least 5% of the total membership to attend the general assembly. This translates to at least 8,000 members attending the annual meeting.

Mr. Lazo said the first three general assemblies has already exceeded the quota with still a final assembly to be held.

The board president explained that the INEC board passed a resolution earlier to hold four sequential AGMAs to achieve the NEA quota as they have failed to achieve it in past general meetings where they scheduled only one.

Mr. Lazo also said INEC is looking into the possibility of holding AGMA through video conferencing. This will entail only one meeting that would be beamed to all the municipalities and cities through the internet.

The proposed video conferencing will still have the same process of registration and will also feature an open forum.

Mr. Lazo said Cebu Electric Cooperative I, II and III is already doing this scheme as well as Batangas Electric Cooperative.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lazo also announced that the Batac City district remains without a director after to the death of former INEC director and Batac mayor Jesus R. Nalupta Sr.

Two elections have already been scheduled for the district but so far it has not yielded qualified applicants for the position.

Mr. Lazo said they will act on this matter after the fourth general assembly based on the recommendations by those in charge of the Batac district.
