DOT expects influx of tourists in IN this Christmas

Laoag CITY—Even with the temporary suspension of international flights to Ilocos Norte, Department of Tourism (DOT) provincial director Milagros R. Gonzales believes there would be an influx of foreign and domestic tourists this Christmas season.

Ms. Gonzales state this upon learning that several hotels and other accredited accommodations in the province reported they are fully booked this Yuletide season.

She said December is usually the peak season for hotels and tourists prefer to visit Ilocos Norte over other provinces due to the scenic natural and man-made attractions here.

However, she is still hopeful that international flights would soon resume to the province as this would further boost tourism arrivals here. She disclosed that Asian tourists are the main clientele of the Laoag’s and Ilocos Norte’s tourism industry.

Meanwhile, Ms. Gonzales also said the DOT is regularly monitoring accreditation of shops, establishments and resorts. She added that the new Ilocos Norte tourism brochures are now ready for distribution.

Tour guides have also been accredited and are all prepared should tourists need their services.

As the Christmas season near, Laoag police chief P/Supt. Jeffrey Gorospe said they are now also on full alert.

The Laoag police, he said, has started their information campaign against illegal activities this season.

Laoag Police Assistance Centers (PACs) are now also tourist assistance centers as police officers are ready to help and guide tourist on where they want to visit.

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
