Batac focuses on farm-to-market road projects

Batac City—Mayor Jeffrey Jubal Nalupta stressed that his administration is focused on building more farm-to-market roads, especially in this city’s rural barangays.

Mr. Nalupta said the annual P1 million equal sharing of rural barangays here should go to farm-to-market road projects as well as main road projects.

He expressed hopes that all or most rural barangay roads would be paved before his term ends in 2016.

In view of this, he asked the City Engineer and Assessor’s Offices to map all rural barangay roads that need paving.

As for urban barangays, the mayor that they will prioritize the purchase of lots for barangay halls or community learning centers.

Other barangays, meanwhile, will see the completion of their respective drainage canal projects.

The P1 million equal sharing, Mr. Nalupta clarified, is not given as cash but projects to be funded by the city government.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nalupta also stated that major infrastructure projects are also ongoing. Among these is the construction of the City Hall extension building.

In a related development, the mayor expressed disappointment in the contractor of the Dariwdiw Bridge construction. The detour road was destroyed by continuous rain and has since caused heavy traffic.

Mr. Nalupta said everybody expected this to happen and the Dept. of Public Works and Highways should have begun construction during the summer season.

Mr. Nalupta then appealed to the public that this is not the fault of the city government but by the agency in charge of the construction.
