PGIN launches 1st paperless job fair

Computers are set up ahead of the 2-day Ilocos Norte paperless job fair to be held April 29-30, 2014 at the Centennial Arena.

In line with Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos’ “Task Force Trabaho”, a program addressing unemployment in Ilocos Norte, the provincial government partnered with Jobs Data Base Philippines (JobsDB) to conduct the first ever paperless job fair in the province on April 29 and 30, 2014 at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, Laoag City.

According to Nicole Rudio, Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head, the event can help all the Ilocano jobseekers especially the fresh graduates to find more available and suitable jobs that are not time consuming and with less disturbance.

“The summer job fair will serve as an answer to fresh graduates who are seeking jobs. We bring them closer to various job opportunities locally, in Manila and overseas with the help of JobsDB Philippines site”, Nicole Rudio, PESO manager said.

Jobs DB Philippines is the leading job portal with major positions in all over Asia and provides job seekers the best opportunities in great companies and deliver exceptional value to employers.

Rudio said that the partnership makes the processing of applications and management of the applicants easier.

“They [applicants] don’t need to bring resume. They can pre-register online. Only interviews will be done at the site,” she added.

With this, Rudio is encouraging all the interested applicants to pre-register at www.jobsdb.com.ph by clicking the Ilocos Norte Summer Job Fair 2014 banner to speed up transaction and to avoid long queues at the venue.

In addition, applicants who do not have access to the internet can still be accommodated on the job fair.

“There’s no deadline for the registration, it is open until the main event. However, if they don’t have internet access, they can just bring the soft copy of their resumes and register on site since we will be putting up computers for registration,” Rudio added.

More than 60 local and overseas employers are expected to come and offer job positions such as call center agents, sales manager, service crews and overseas workers.

On the other hand, the country manager of Jobs DB Philippines, Sheryll F. Tiburcio, is a proud Ilocano that helped realize the thrust of the provincial government to provide jobs to every Ilocano.

Rudio said, Tiburcio is returning the favor to her fellow Ilocanos by offering job opportunities in the province.

Ms. Marcos believes that the said event, as well as Jobs DB, is indeed a great help to achieve the goal of boosting the provincial economy by providing job information and assistance to employers in one office or website.
