CVF daughter is new LC ABC prexy

FOLLOWING the footsteps of her parents, Mary Michelle Louise “Mikee” V. Fariñas was elected as the new Liga ng mga Barangay president of Laoag City.

The young Fariñas not only became the youngest elected Liga president in the city at 22 years old, she also ran unopposed and in the process garnered all the 80 votes of all barangay chairpersons in the city.

After her election, she thanked her co-barangay chairpersons for the solid vote as she vowed to help them all in the Sangguniang Panlungsod, where she will sit as an ex-officio member.

She added that she will become the bridge between the barangays and the city council as she also said she will continue the work of her mother, former Liga president now Laoag City Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas.

Prior to becoming the city’s chief executive, her parents were also elected as Liga presidents. Currently, her mother is the mayor while her father is Vice Mayor Michael V. Fariñas who served as Laoag mayor for three consecutive terms.

The other new Liga officers of the city are: Jane R. Siazon (Brgy. 28), executive vice president; Alan L. Leaño (Brgy. 18), internal vice president; Manuel S. Savellano (Brgy. 53), external vice president; Maureen H. Bonoan (Brgy. 50), secretary; Glenn P. Agustin (Brgy. 7-B), sub-secretary; Noel P. Daquioag (Brgy. 52-A), treasurer; Marilin S. Dancel (Brgy. 20), sub-treasurer; Antonio B. Villanueva Jr. (Brgy. 55-B), auditor; Primo Jay S. Ramos (Brgy. 23), public information officer; and Darwin M. Domingo (Brgy. 1), business manager.

The board of directors are composed of Charito D. Caday (Brgy. 62-A), northwest barangays; Jay Ronald P. Labrado (Brgy. 10) and Sammy B. Aquino (Brgy. 24), urban barangays; and Wilson V. Alonzo (Brgy. 43) and Ruben J. Roque (Brgy. 46), south of the river barangays.

The election was held at the Laoag City Hall Conference Room on December 9, 2013.

Pagudpud’s tourism transformer passes away

Ricardo Nolasco Jr., owner of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018.
